Lifting of anti-Russian sanctions would encourage the current positive dynamics and would considerably facilitate the implementation of the peace plan agreed in Minsk, Eckhard Cordes said
BERLIN, October 2. /TASS/. Anti-Russian sanctions are harming the entire Europe and their lofting would have a positive effect of crisis settlement efforts in Ukraine, Germany’s Committee on Eastern European Economic Relations said on Friday.

“These economic sanctions are a burden for the entire Europe, and they tell on the Ukrainian economy, which will not be able to get out of the profound crisis without functional economic relations with Russia,” Eckhard Cordes, the chairman of the committee, said in a statement.

He hailed the current progress in maintaining ceasefire in eastern Ukraine. He also commended the recent agreement on supplies of Russian gas to Ukraine in the coming winter as a contribution to the efforts to de-escalate the situation in the country. The committee, according to Cordes, expects today’s summit of the Normandy Four (Russia, Germany, France and Ukraine) leaders in Paris to be crowned by the cancellation of anti-Russian restrictions.

Lifting of anti-Russian sanctions would encourage the current positive dynamics and would considerably facilitate the implementation of the peace plan agreed in Minsk, he said.
